Event: IDEX Opening Ceremonies 2013 Client: Protec Location: ADNEC Grandstand Abu Dhabi Role: Production Manager on site I joined the production team for the opening ceremonies of IDEX, The International Defence Exhibition and Conference 2013. The event saw the build of a mobility course for tanks, howitzers and other military vehicles, including a loop the loop for 5 rage buggies (a world record). We also built a 240m long temporary waterway to hold boats including 9m military ribs, a village scene for local performers, a revolve sufficient to accommodate tanks and a catenary between two 60m high crane towers to support two tracking video walls. The event itself included military demonstrations from all three of services of the UAE on land sea and air.
Event: Sports Personality of the Year Awards 2012 Client: Unspun London Location: Excel, London Role: Production Manager on site I was brought in to assist with the first few days build in the main auditorium, before transferring across to Production Manage the corporate dinner and after show parties in the Capital hall and the VIP areas in the Capital Suites of Excel, London.
Event: Piccadilly Circus Circus Client: Unusual Services Location: Central London Role: Production Manager on site This event saw Piccadilly Circus, Regent Street, Piccadilly, Lower Regent Street and Waterloo Place transformed into a pop up circus as part of the London 2012 Surprises campaign. There were stages across the entire area as it became pedestrianised for a one day only spectacular culminating in an incredible overhead show of "Place des Anges" by the Studio de Cirque. Event: Land Rover "By Invitation Only" Tours Client: Imagination Location: Global Role: Senior Production Manager for pre production and on site
I was tasked to undertake the pre production for this project involving; overseeing the sourcing and selection of contractors for the construction of 13 tour kits around the globe
Each kit consisted of three 6m x 3m lightboxes, a Stories of Substance area, a reveal plinth with the Range Rover and a Personalisation area. Please see my videos page for more.
Event: Jaguar Land Rover Prototype Dealership Client: Imagination Location: Secret Role: Pre Production & on site Production Manager Imagination brought me in to Production Manage the build of a 1:1 scale of the proposed new retail designs for Jaguar Land Rover dealerships in a secret warehouse. The project presented major challenges as we had to fuse real dealership construction with theatre construction. Watch out for a timelapse of the month long build once this project is no longer visually secret.
Event: Rolls Royce Stand, Guangzhou Motorshow Client: Imagination Location: Guangzhou, China Role: on site Production Manager Two weeks before the installation of the Rolls Royce stand at the Guangzhou Motorshow I got a call to cover for a Production Manager on paternity leave and spent two weeks in China for the first installation of a brand new design and build of the stand. The stand had rear offices and three cars on display.
Event: Range Rover Evoque Experiences tours Client: KTA Imagination Location: Global Role: Pre Production & on site Production Manager I was tasked to undertake the pre production for this project involving; overseeing the sourcing and selection of contractors for the construction of 17 tour kits around the globe Each kit consists of two Range Rover Evoques with a central car display feature, 3 walls with displays for the Colour and Trim options, interactive video and "widgets", car configurator stations and video loops.
Event: E.ON EC&R Exhibition Stand @ World Future Energy Summit Client: Optimum Events Location: Abu Dhabi Role: on site Production Manager For the second year running I was the on site Production Manager for this event coordinating between the UK client and the local suppliers to produce the stand and manage the stand during the live period. The stand was a corporate stand to communicate to the global audience about the work that is undertaken by E.ONs Renewable Energy division. This included screens, printed literature and environmental graphics along with two scale models of renewable energy sources.
Event: ICT Awards and Conference Client: Stage Electrics Location: National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham Role: on site Production Manager My role for this event was to undertake the role of Production Manager on site on behalf of Stage Electrics for the main plenary and several break out rooms. I was responsible for the build, live, turn arounds and break down of the event, coordinating between the client and suppliers and Stage Electrics.
Event: NCSoft Exhibition Stands Client: Boxcar Productions Locations: Cologne & Paris Role: Pre Production & on site Production Manager I undertook Pre Production and the role of Production Manager on site for Gamescom in Cologne and Paris Games week for and on behalf of Boxcar Productions. The stand involved many sampling opportunities for Guild Wars 2 and Aion online games published by NCSoft and a stage area for regular daily stage content including exclusive interviews with those behind the games, give-aways and on screen demos.
Rainbow Trust Charity Balls These were charity Balls held in the Hilton, Park Lane for approximately 500 people and in my time as Production Manager on these annual events, I worked with The Rat Pack Live and Bjorn Again and helped to raise approximately £100,000 per year for the charity.
E.ON Conferences I have worked on several conferences for E.ON ranging from small senior management conferences for the board to conferences for up to 800 people as a Production Assistant, Production Manager and PowerPoint Operator.
E.ON Celebrations I have also worked on several Celebrations for E.ON including anniversaries, sod cuttings and openings of power stations and maintenance sites.
E.ON Changing Energy The largest event that I have been involved with for E.ON was the Changing Energy Festival, which filled Hall 4 of the NEC with 1/3 exhibition area, 1/3 Workshop area and 1/3 presentation area. I was Production Manager for the exhibition area and Project Manager for the largest area within the exhibition for The Generation and Trading Business Unit of E.ON. The Event was attended by approximately 2500 E.ON employees and stakeholders.
Nissan GT-R Tour This tour took in 15 countries and 47 venues across Europe, the majority of which were Nissan Dealerships. The event concept was to take the new GT-R and supporting plinths around Europe and display them to pre order customers and potential customers. I was one of three Production Mangers on the Tour on rotation; I was also heavily involved in creating a custom budget structure and the original budgets.
Nokia Experiential Marketing, Shopping Centre Tours I have Production Managed shopping centre tours for Nokia for experiential Marketing. I have also Production Managed Experiential Marketing activities for them at a number of events such as Triathlons and exhibition stands at Clothes Show Live when Nokia were major sponsors of the event.
Nokia Rock Up & Play Across 8 events over 3 years at Reading, Leeds, Isle of Wight and Donnington festivals, I was both Production Assistant and Production Manager for a structure on a 20m x 20m footprint. The structure contained a bar, soft seating area, DJ booth, dance area and a stage area with the opportunity to “Rock up & Play”, either with your own band, or with the house band.
Carbon Black Rallies For 3 years, I was involved as a Production Manager on the Carbon Black Super car Rally across European destinations. We were tasked to help with the scheduling and budgeting of the rally and the evening functions.
Virgin Vie, The Big One Held in the NEC Arena, this event was for approximately 5000 Virgin Vie sales reps and for this event we used the Take That touring stage set including the halo, pyros and rain effects, building ramps to the side of the stage to allow us to have cars on the stage. For this event, I was a Production Assistant and Graphics Operator.
Sony Blu Ray Launch, Salzburg, 2006 The event was Sony Recording Media’s press launch for the Blu-ray disk. The audience was approximately 75 people and was held in the Museum of Modern Art and had a spy theme. I was Production Manager and Graphics Operator.
